Beginner wanting to learn to code to make an android app.

I have an idea for an android app, but I don't know how to program at all.
My idea is similar to the typical MP3 cutter & ringtone maker apps, but slightly different.
I think first I should learn to build an app like that.
Can someone point me in a good direction?
I heard Java is a good way to do it so that's why I'm here.

on a side note, this seems like a steep hill up. how hard is it for a beginner to learn to make an mp3 cutter app?
i played with html in junior high a lot, and also ti83 calculator basic programming.

Yes, Android has a lot to learn for an experienced java programmer. If you don't have java yet, that makes it that much more to learn.
