type compatibility
int p=5;
float x;
x=p;
cout<<x;
I expected 5.0 as output, but the output is 5. What could be problem?

Re: type compatibility
If you don't format output, cout will cut unnecessary zeroes. See http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/i.../setprecision/ regarding decimal precision and http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/ios/fixed/ regarding fixed-point.
Code:
cout << fixed << setprecision(1) << x;
will display 5.0
