    A good (and free) word processor

    Many years ago I used to use MS Word - and actually quite liked it. But it's very rare for me to need printed documents these days so I've mostly been using WordPad (the free word processor that comes with Windows 7).

    However... I've just realised that WordPad can't seem to handle landscape mode. If I create a document in landscape mode, then save it, it always re-opens in portrait mode. I've tried selecting different printers and different document formats but it's always the same - save a document in landscape mode, re-open it and it'll be back to portrait mode.

    Can anyone recommend a good (and free) WP that'll work with Win7 ?

    Have you considered libre office http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/libreoffice/

    There is openoffice http://get.openoffice.us.com/h2/oo_min.php?source=bing&

    IMO I prefer libre - but as both are free ...

    Both have a WP, spreadsheet etc

    Thanks 2kaud. Just after posting, I remembered having read somewhere about OpenOffice - so I just installed it and it seems pretty good. My only minor gripe is that when previewing a document, it always seems to display the preview at 55% (so I then need to adjust the image to 100%). Seems okay apart from that though...
