Re: WHAT VERSION OF vs IS FREE
You need to register (free) with MS to continue to use it. Help/Register Product.
All advice is offered in good faith only. All my code is tested (unless stated explicitly otherwise) with the latest version of Microsoft Visual Studio (using the supported features of the latest standard) and is offered as examples only - not as production quality. I cannot offer advice regarding any other c/c++ compiler/IDE or incompatibilities with VS. You are ultimately responsible for the effects of your programs and the integrity of the machines they run on. The community edition, like all version requires registration. As for a limitation in usage, of course, the free community version isn't going to have the same features as the paid for professional or enterprise versions. Still, the community edition allows you the create and debug a variety of c# programs. For being free it has a lot of features. If open source is your thing, check out Visual Studio Code.
