    windows keeps restarting

    hil..whenever i try to shutdown my WinXP Pro but clicking on the trun Off button, instead of shutting down it restarts and comes back to the log on page..
    then i click turn off again..and again it restarts...
    then i click turn off again and it shuts down...
    why is this...
    can i solve this?
    i scanned my whole pc using norton 2004 but no virus was gound..
    i have a firewall running always along norton..
    can someone help?

    I think marinna had this same problem last year...but I don't have the link I sent her/pasted....had something to do with the cd driver. It's in the General Discussion forum if you want to search...

    strange..cd driver can affect the whole WinXP Pro??

    any kernel mode driver can effect the 'whole'

    dont really have much technical knowledge to understand your big words..
    but tks a lot...
    i think i have a device attached to the PC with no driver installed...maybe thats the prob,,,
