Connection to the server
Awhile ago I have developed VB6 application which uses Access db located on file server. Application uses many Word documents located on server too. Several users connect to this server through LAN by having mapped server drive. Now I'm working on the SQL Server version of the application. New version has to work through the LAN as well as through the WAN. I would prefere not to use any kind of private network to work with Word files through WAN. I know that I can store Word files in SQL Server db (never did it myself yet). I also know that if I install Internet Information Server on the server machine (it has static IP address), I can reach those Word files too.
My question: What scenario would you suggest to allow the user to have an access through WAN to data in SQL Server as well as to Word files?
Thank you
Vlad
