    On Error Goto Hmm
    Open "A:\Tmp.tmp" for Append as #99
    IsWritable = True
    Hmmm:
    Close #1
    if Err = 70 then
    *It's not writeable or that file is in use*
    Else
    Error(Err)
    end if
    End Function
