Multi-user environments/exclusive access
How do you turn this off! Everytime I attempt to edit a form in access2k, it attempts to obtain exclusive access to the form, effectively locking out everyone else who tries to use it.
*huff huff*
Okay, I'm attempting to fiddle with access 97 in order to complete a 97-2k migration which is scheduled to occur over a few months.
I'm testing options now, and what I have set up is as follows.
(A) 97 front end, and
(B) 2K front-end
Pointing to..
(C) 97 back-end
Now, since this is a multi-user env, everyone will be required to input a username and password.
My question(s):
1) Are there known problems with security settings being lost or altered during a database split operation. (dropping the tables out of a 97 db (A)(C), then converting the front end to 2k(B))
2) Why does 2k require exclusive access to edit a simple form, when 97 did not?
3) Is there a way of preventing/turning this option off. I've tried setting the shared/exclusive settings to shared.. no luck.
4) When I'm connecting to a system.mdw file, why does access 2k not seem to see my admin status, when 97 picks it up just fine? Do I have to convert the mdw file as well?
Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks everyone,
Wes.
