Differences Between ASP and ASP.NET

what are the major differences between the two and from a beginners point of view is it worth the effort to learn about ASP.NET before learning asp.

...as I do not hold a strong knowledge of all those languages, cannot tell you which is better as a lanuage, but can tell you this:
if choice is between Asp and Asp.net, go for the last one: it should be the future.
Php is not the same as Asp: it is worth to be learned if you want something more in your curriculum...
Sorry, know nothing of Cfm, but I think I could say the same as for the Php.
Thus, unless you know you have to work with a specific language, go for Asp.net and/or Php...
