REAL Software ships REALbasic 5 For Windows
Powerful, Easy-to-Learn Programming Tool Now Enables Windows Users to Create Their Own Software for Both Windows and Macintosh
AUSTIN, Texas (April 28, 2003) ‹ REAL Software, Inc. announced today the immediate availability of REALbasic 5 for Windows, a full-featured, easy-to-use development tool that enables Windows users of all levels to create custom applications and compile them for both Windows and Macintosh.
³REALbasic now gives Windows users the same powerful, yet easy-to-use capabilities that our Macintosh customers have enjoyed for years,² said Geoff Perlman, president and CEO of REAL Software. ³Our goal is to provide useful tools that help people create their own software, whether on Windows
or Macintosh.²
³With REALbasic 5 for Windows, my team can now develop an application and deploy that application on Windows or Macintosh from a single set of source code, at the click of a button,² said Kent Myhre, software development engineer for Business Ink, Co. ³That keeps my development costs low and allows me to broaden my markets and sell software to PC users, regardless of
the computer they use.²
REALbasic 5 for Windows supports Windows-specific features such as ActiveX/COM, Registry access and Win32 API calls. Windows applications created with REALbasic do not require an installer or DLLs, eliminating the common ŒDLL ****¹ problem. In addition, REALbasic 5 for Windows is very similar to Visual Basic ® (VB) and includes a VB project conversion utility. Similar to Visual Basic in design and syntax, VB users will feel right at home with REALbasic.
REALbasic 5 for Windows is available now starting at US$99.95 direct from REAL Software or through your local computer retailer. REALbasic 5 Professional Edition, required for cross-platform compilation, starts at US$399.95 and includes extended functionality for database and team development. Introductory pricing of US$299.95 expires on May 28, 2003.
