VB - FTP (File Transfer Protocol) Usage

Hi,

Can u give a rough idea about developing an application through which File Transfer can be done across systems.. Besides the usage of Internet Transfer Control , is there any other way of accessing the FTP and programming it.

If any clue pl. let me know.
