Pure Java - some suggestion please

I am joining the Java community. I read about all this Pure Java and Bill's Java stuff. For my requirements, I need Pure Java.

Please give me some suggestions as to the development tools/environment I can use. I don't really want to code in notepad. On the other hand, tweaking VJ++ to speak

Personally, I've been using Borland JBuilder 3 for several months now, and I like it. The debug environment isn't great, but it's still a good product.
