Re: foolish things to your PC
A mate of mine got Norton's Ghost and installed it. He meaned to make an image backup of his HDD just in case, but accidentally overwrote his HDD with a blank image file.
I still give him crap about that.
EDIT: Dunno how my post managed to get first.... weird.

This is true, I used to smoke that stuff, but I quit about half a year ago(I feel really great now), but my friend keeps smoking it, he smokes so much, and now I can't even talk to him because he doesn't make sense. Its a very sad sight.
Anyway, my comp was not working so I shot it, kust kidding.
I did however punch out the screen on my laptop, I did it cause it wasn't working at all, the HDD was deader than a doorknob, and didn't have the money to buy a new HDD, so I punched it, and now the screen doesn't work, luckily though it was a crap computer I got from my school, got it basically free at the end of they year. Its not just that one problem that led to the punching, it broke like 6 times, I took it in for repairs(through school cause it was free) and it didn't even seem like they did anything, cause it still wouldn't work, so I had to relieve my anger somehow, it was either the laptop, or the stupid guy that 'fixes' them, and I didn't feel like getting arrested.

The most stupid thing I did: A pin of my PS/2 mouse was twisted. That's why it fitted only into the keyboard plug. It took me long to figure out why it didn't work...

Re: foolish things to your PC
One morning, a user came to me saying his monitor is out of order. I'm a software guy, but since the hardware guy was on holiday, I tried to deal with the problem myself. The led of the monitor was shining. Pressing the buttons on the monitor had no effect. I replaced his monitor with another one.
The next day, the hardware guy came back, and showed me a little wheel under the monitor, telling me "that's for intensity". Had I imagined there could be monitors with buttons AND wheels, I would not have looked so foolish. But that was too late, everybody in the company had already learnt about my unability to turn a little wheel.

Re: foolish things to your PC
Back in my early days of programming I wrote a recursive directory delete method in C++. Unfortunately there was a bug in it which meant it started off from C:\. Funnily enough I had to completely re-install my machine (which back in those days before plug and play was an arduous process) after running my first debug version.
I got away with it though : I blamed it on a virus.

that was the first impression I get when my friends noticed what I'm doing abusing my PC ...darn the dead mouse...

the REAL moral is: formatting your PC can't bring your dead mouse alive...
when I was a noob in typing skill, I hardly can find the 'Q' on the keyboard..that yam alphabet is the most annoying to find...
