Turbo C is a very old 16 bits DOS compiler.
If possible, you should use a newer 32 bits compiler (Borland C++ 5.5 for instance).
Then, you'll be able to use the Win32 API.
If you really have to use Turbo C++, in that case, you can use BGI getimage/putimage and load the bitmap file with a special routine whose code may be available on the net. Color palettes conversions would have to be handled manually.
"inherit to be reused by code that uses the base class, not to reuse base class code", Sutter and Alexandrescu, C++ Coding Standards.
Club of lovers of the C++ typecasts cute syntax: Only recorded member.
Out of memory happens! Handle it properly!
Say no to g_new()!
