Determine if computer is connected to the internet

How can I see if the computer is connected to the internet ?

To determine if you are on the internet there are two things you could do. First if you know that it will never have an IP address except when it is on the internet you call a function like GetHostIP, or something like that. If the machine may have an IP address but not neccessarily be on the internet like in a network you could try to "ping" an internet site that will return information like Microslop.
