Re: Dotnet beginner mzterial and books

You posted in the ASP.NET forum, so I will start with that....

First, learn the basics of C# without worrying about specifics for the WEB.

As far as a good book, that is pretty subjective and can largely be influenced by a number of factors.

I am sure a number of people here will have recommendations, but if you are learning independantly, you may want to go to the library and check out a few different books.

Briefly read the first 1-2 chapters, and see if the style of the book is something that fits your needs.

Books by: Wrox, SAMS, Rielly, Microsoft Press are usually among the leaders.....

Avoid books with the word "Reference" in the title (generally), as these books are more for looking up detailed information once you understand the concepts. Inseat look for books with the words "Learn", "Teach" in the titles.....

ps: A BIG congratulations on realizing that you need a good book to learn in an organized manner. If you browse the forums here, you will see how so many people struggle (and usually fail) by trying to just "pick up information" from random sources......

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice; in practice there is.
