How can I create a semitransparent window?

Have you ever seen QuickTime Player v4?
Its UI is fantastic. I want to know how to implement its UI.
Especially, when I drag an image on the display part of the player,
I can see a semitransparent window.(I guess so.)
I really want to know how to implement this UI.
