    installing VC++ v6.0

    I cannot install Visual C++ v6.0 on my computer running Windows 95 because of the 64kb limitation in the Windows 95 Registry size. I downloaded Microsoft's RegClean utility and shortened the installation path, but neither solved the problem, and there aren't any programs I wish to uninstall. I know that switching to Windows NT will increase my registry size, so that is one solution, but I don't find NT useful. Upgrading to Windows 98 would be useful, however, if it increased my system registry. Does anyone know if Windows 98 does this? I can't find any documentation at the Microsoft website that addresses this issue.

    I'm not sure if 98 has bigger registry size than 95 but at least I succeeded in installing VC6 in 98 (with LONG path and LOTS of other apps on my hard drives)

    Thanks for replying. I just found an answer at the Microsoft site by digging a little deeper: Windows 98 doesn't have a 64kb registry key limitation, so upgrading should fix the problem. Hearing that you were successful is good news.
