    Question to camera enthusiasts!

I am looking for a camera that I can use to evolve my photo"skills" and was wondering is this is a good camera for beginners that would last a while.

    Camera: Canon EOS 550D
    Lens: 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS

I wanna take picture like these ones
Close ups, skyline, sunsets, full moons/stars, nature, people, animals, buildings and such.
close ups on buildings and environmental pictures would be useful to be able to take with high quality since I am learning to program and later game development to be able to make textures.

Anyone know if this cam is a good one for beginners and can take pictures like these (not all of the different types are required)

You can borrow from friends, can't you ? I doubt, a web developer tends to make pron pages instead.

That's what I experienced among web developers. pron page making is a real industry to earn big bucks.
I don't own a camera, and never wish to buy one.
