Internet Explorer Dialog Combo Box

Having trouble extracting the text from an Internet Explorer Class dialog.
"Internet Explorer_TridentCmboBx". I've tried SendMessage and GetWindowText
to no avail. Any ideas?
All I get back is 3 to 4 garbled data bytes.
