Fortunately I am staying in the US right now...but I still did not get any turkey yet...
I wish I could choose which country's holidays to celebrate ;)
We celebrate thanks giving but at the beginning of october and always on sunday. Every town chooses his own thanksgiving day around the late september to the middle/end of october. It is not like in the USA a holiday.
As Andreas already mentioned, we do not celebrate thanksgiving......but i wish we could :DQuote:

I think every christian parish is celebrating thanksgiving ("Erntedank Fest") but it is not like in the USA a holiday.
In our village it is a great party with a thanksgiving-concert of the music with dancing and with a little market. Most people of the village are there and we all have fun.
Sounds great! So i guess you want to invite me, cause as you know i am located near you.....:D ( just joking )Quote:

Well...isn't there the possibility of taking one day off with your employer?? It would decrease your vacation days though... :)Quote:

Well...yes and no...I do not know whether it is different from state to state but basically only the Thursday is holiday. But most of the companies give their employees the friday as holiday as well. Thanksgiving is the day the holiday season (Christmas) starts. And on Friday after Thanksgiving there is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. So you can think of complete America will go shopping at the same time. They usually have incredible offers in the morning (from 6 am) so you have to wake up early... It might be different in other states though...Quote:

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!!!
But I have a question. What do you celebrate during thanksgiving day? And what is the story behind the tradition of having roasted turkey during thanksgiving day?
Do you have bedtime stories about this. Please share one.
I would love to hear it. :p
At our thanksgiving, I dont know how it is in the USA, but in Austria we thank god for the good cop and that nobody has to be hungry or without a home in our village/town. And in the same time we bid god the help all hungry people and so on.Quote:
