Creating and selling a customer made program.

Hello, are there people here with experience creating mid-large size somewhat complex custom programs for other people.

I really need to figure out some issues.

For one thing I think I keep getting screwed over. Did anyone
go through a phase where they had problems dealing with people.

I have a bunch of other questions if anyone responds.

Hi, have you learned from what happened?

Did everything work out for the best later on. I.e. did getting
screwed teach you things which made you a better person
later on.

For instance, I seem to enter deals where I make very little money. People seem to want something for nothing.

I know I should be more careful but I just don't have the know how yet.

Has anyone done a job that should be worth X dollars for
X/10 Dollars, etc. Is this a phase all new freelancers go through?

I'm getting tired of hearing joe blow making 150/hour etc.

Get it in writing. The original scope of the job,
and what changes will cost. Then, arrange for incremental payoffs, when you hit certain milestones, 1/3 down, 1/3 when data gathering is running and 1/3 when reports are done/finished.

Joe Blow isn't making that kind of cash these days. Unless we're talking about a different kind of 'job'.
