Hi Mr. Graduate Student :-) ,
In Java, all your code must be inside a class. By convention(!), the name of that class should match the name of the file that holds the program. At this point, the convention that filenames correspond to class names may seem arbitrary. However this convention makes it easier to maintain and organize your programs.
