displaying data in a control

Hi

In my ASP.NET project i need to display data in a grid in particular way.i.e
in this format:

Item1 Item2 Item3

Item4 Item5 Item6


like this.i used datalist control.but i cant give color to alternate rows.

any ideas to do this
