DTMF signal detect and decode

Dear All,
I am a undergraduate final year student, i am now doing a research and need to use VB to develope a program for detecting the DTMF signal and decode it. I am a beginner of programming, if anybody and give me some suggestions? i appreciate for all your help. Thanks so much.

I hope i am not mistaken. DTMF is for Com-port communication, right? If so, there is a MS Com control. Check it out
