IP Issue
Hi!
I have searched a lot for this, but haven't found any answer. I have seen many programs and web-applications for geo-locating IP-addresses. I still haven't figured out how to tell in which country the IP-address s h o u l d belong to (geo-locating is 98% accurate as I know. Can anyone here give me some formula to do it yourself or is it possible only for computers?
Thanks.

Re: IP Issue
I presume all these services do is use the RIPE whois database for the IP addresses. More info can be found on their website.

Re: IP Issue
That is the general basis. It is sometimes enhanced by doing a (effective) TraceRT and looking at the locations of points along the way to weed out "anomolies".

Re: IP Issue
For very rough and potentially inaccurate results, you can use something like "Map of the Internet: the IPv4 Space, 2006", at (for example) http://xkcd.com/195/
For much more accurate results, use a database such as that at http://ip.ludost.net/
Note that the whois service is probably not helpful
