.NET uses a framework that needs to be installed (giving you more possibilities). VC++ doesn't.
Doesn't matter. Both are quite capable of doing that. I think it's more a matter of taste. .NET gives you a framework that makes it easy to do stuff, but VC++ gives you more control (and yes, I know a lot of people don't agree with me).Quote:

Another opinion. If you want to learn C++ go with VC++.
If you want to program in .Net, use C#.
Note that Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 are capable of coding C++, managed C++ or C#. Just because it's Visual Studio xxx .net, doesn't mean it's only for creating .Net programs.
