I would advise that you setup a company (for tax and liability reasons), establish a hourly rate and use net 15 or net30 as a policy. You might want to visit your local Small Business Administration, they will give you free advice on setting up a business in your area.
I'd be glad to barter business advice for programming services ;-)

Thanks for replying.
I had previously established a hardware selling business but, the competition is fierce but, I do have a lawyer, an accountant and my wife is a great bookeeper.
Where I need help is in where and how to advertise my services.
I can certainly can make a web page but, I was curious to get some examples of that and then I need to know about fees.
Can you give me more details on how the bartering would work?
