Newbie help : webprogramming tool selection

Hi,

I am a C++ programmer and I have done database based C++ apps before. I have used VC++ old editions quite extensively, before they had the VC# etc., included.

I am new to webprogramming, creating websites etc.,

Please can you suggest me a simple tool to start with. I understand OO quite well, but havent done much or any of Java...

I would like to create a website that stores a few details in a database and let users use the website... a simple inventory kind of website.

Would appreciate if you can suggest some tools that I should be using.. thanks. Mel
