What are the challenges of scalling a document management system for a growing business?
One big challenge I?ve seen is storage growth ? as documents pile up, indexing and retrieval speed can drop if the system isn?t designed for scale.
Another is access control. Small teams get by with simple permissions, but once you?re dealing with multiple departments or external partners, managing roles securely gets complex fast.
Then there?s integration ? connecting the DMS with CRMs, ERPs, or AI search tools often becomes messy as the business grows.
And of course, compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, etc.) ? scaling isn?t just technical, it?s also about keeping up with regulations.
