Re: CG members photo album
Nice picture that - Caramel. :)
BTW, Assembly Programming is an incredibly wonderful way to start a software career if working on system level interests you, that is. Almost nothing gets lower than Assembly, and as you move on to higher-level languages, you would really know "How Stuff Works" to a level of detail few others would.
So, good luck with your career. :thumb:

thank u soooo much
yeah i understand assembly is useful, it's just so much easier to deal with high-level languages because they're more english-like

Guido, your guess for meaning of 'sophomore' is way better than mine. Actually, mine would be substituted with asterisks here, I am afraid :D

Well, 'sophomore' means nothing else than 'second year'... But it still doesn't tell us what kind of engineering she's studying. ;)

oh, i just noticed that u live in poland.. ur english is perfect though :) and yes, gstercken is right, it does mean that i'm in my second year of engineering studies.
i'm studying hmmmm... lol... let's just say that i'll graduate with a b.s. in engineering with a concentration in mechatronics... it's an engineering program that combines mechanical, computer, and electronics engineering

Mechatronics? Well, in that case, getting a solid foundation in assembly language is indeed a good idea. :thumb:

Well, that was not a joke. How much you wan't to excell is decided by you yourself. No one is born an expert! I'm not saying you can be a guru overnight...but in time. And the best way in hanging around a forum. I've seen quite a few people, here itself, excelled that way!

All the great masters started as pupils. But they worked hard and outtopped their masters.
BTW, is caramel your real name?

We definitly need one... I moderate it, but my assembly knowledge is - to my surprise - more rusted that I expected.
Don't be foolish, in the first weeks you barely visit CG just asking questions, then you find the humor/excellent discussions in the Chit/Chat section and start to read CodeGuru regularly. And while reading it, you spread your opinion on certain topics... And before you even recognize it, you are a Guru for everyone waits to gain help from and you are addicted!. The normal (endless) life cycle of CodeGuru membership. ;)

True... true... And those of the great masters who don't have any RL become Moderators/Reviewers :D

Well, it depends on what is REAL and what is not. Can you answer that question? ;)

Re: CG members photo album
I think that this thread almost works for Miss/Mister CodeGuru as suggested. Since caramel, you are the only "Miss" here, I think you are winning.

Re: CG members photo album
Guys, serriosully, talk to your managers to hire some girls in your companies. :D
-
Re: CG members photo album
Matt: yes i really want to do well with this stuff b/c it'll be the core of my studies, thanks for the encouragement ;)
Cilu: thank u  ; and no it's not my real name, it's just what my friends call me b/c it's the color of my skin and i really like caramel candies :D ... but good idea, maybe one day when i have a kid i'll name her Caramel :D
NoHero: yes!! i've already noticed that it's quite addicting :D ... but yeah, i do try to read around and see what codes and programs other people are posting, hopefully that'll do me good
Peejavery: first, i'm curious, what does ur nickname mean? second, YAAAAAAAY :D it's like the Junior Miss competition back from high school all over again, memories
PadexArt: u know it's odd, i'm the only girl in my major  the only other female is like an older woman... i don't think there r many girls in this field, mainly due to the glass ceiling effect i guess

Back in college, in my year, 20% of us (the students) were girls. I'm no sure how does that meet the average.

yeah i don't know why female engineers are still so few... u'd think that with all the advancement in technology and women's rights we'd have more women in the IT field, but no... i think this 20% of which u speak applies to my case as well.. my class of mechatronics engineers is about 2 or 3 girls and maybe 15 guys or so  but that's ok, i hate girls, they're annoying :D
and yes, i think i look egy too.. some people argue that i look american-like b/c of my somewhat sharp features: long nose, clear cheekbones, many people have thought that i'm just an american girl that tans and dies her hair black  ; while others think that my black hair, olive complexion, and dark eyes give me away as a modern cleopatra lol
-

No, my nickname I had in Peru was "chinchito." It means little thumb tack. I liked that name. I miss it a lot. I miss just speaking Spanish everyday.

Re: CG members photo album
Well, was there a heart for sale? I didn't know :D
I think this thread is about CG members photo and its related discussion. And I think this one went a bit longer...too few women's photo in a male dominated thread...you know.
OK we'll wait for the next photo

A good friend of mine, which is working for a larger company, recentlly complaint that she hates all the new colleagues she has, a bunch of noisy girls. And she's a girl too. :)
That could be another reason for the lack of girls in IT companies: once a girl gets there, there is no place left for a 2nd one. ;)

That could be true :D , although in my case not in the company since we do not decide who gets in, its the HR and managers job, but to which project they get in , we get to decide those. And most of the time we get guys, especially if the female trainees are annoying :D

Let's see: Amerie, Cherish, Ideru, Marina, Caramel. 5 Girls already. I know a few more from the forums. So, I guess we can bring about a dozen of girls to the next CodeGuru party. :D

Re: CG members photo album
Matt: i'll make future note of the missing head thing :D
humptydumpty: no it's not a contest, i'm not really aiming for attention either i promise.. i just think it's really cool when u can picture who ur talking to
PadexArt: trust me, girls r just plain annoying.. all of my friends r guys, i only know 2 girls from high school and we talk about once a year before the summer, just to catch up on things :D .. guys r much easier to deal with, they're careless, easy-going, funny.. girls r uptight, self-centered, jealous, can't be trusted either really (NEVER tell a girl ur secret, she'll spill it out sooner or later, it's a matter of time)...... conclusion: girls r annoying :D
ideru: good logic :D
Shuja Ali: thanks for the welcome  and always remember: better late than never ;)
