FIFA World Cup Germany 2006

Shame to see Australlia go out that way. I thought Italy was going to win, but
would have preferred if the aussies had won, just because you gotta love australlia.

I also cheered for the aussies... Italy didn't deserve that win. They showed no skills and no desire to play. Too bad that they were lucky!

I have never seen a Refree like that. There was no penalty kick and there were only 5-10 seconds left in the game. I feel sorry for Aussies.

I'm 100% that the italians bought him. That's what they seem to know best lately... :sick:

So the referrees did it again in a shameful way: the second goal of Brazil was scored from a HUGE offside position. :sick:

The latest match, between France and Spain was quite interested. Though I was on the french side tonight, I didn't have too many hopes, especially after the spaniards scored from a penalty kick. But the french proved to be old foxes and turn the match. They surely deserved to win, in my opinion, and for me personaly it was quite refreshing to see Spain out after having to live with the two European club cups won by 2 Spanish teams this year. :D

After all, I was write with 6 out of 8 teams. That's quite good, but I hope to improve the percentage. ;)

I'm looking forward for all the quarter finals. They promise to be some memorable matches.

You were right, Cilu, Spain could be unlucky at this world cup too. I don't understand why they were not better tonight. Maybe because they were afraid of Zidane, and he wanted a revenge, or maybe because of the French raising star, Ribery, who, at last, have been told it is better to shoot below the horizontal bar than to do a drop goal, like he usually does.

But since a Spaniard scored against his side, Spain scored twice and France twice too. If I were a referee, I'll say it's a draw (but unfortunatetly I'm too good to be a referee).

I think Spain entered the pitch taking the victory against a weak France for granted. And that was fatal. France work hard and, amazingly, Zidane played quite well. Ribery was very good too and they game finaly shown some football. At the end of the day, it seems that the doom on the spanish football team is still here. As I said in on of my first posts here, I don't think they'll ever make it to the final.

As for the referrees at this last match, it might have been the best prestation so far.

I guess French deserved it and they got it. They played well and there game plan was too good. This match was the most interesting match in this round.

Lets hope for more interesting games in the quarter finals.

I've seen on TV that you (the germans) were quite taken by surprized seeing how many beer the english can drink. For instance in Stuttgart, at the last England's match, with 60,000 English fans in the city, 900,000 cans of beer were sold. By the end of the day no beer could be found in the pubs. ;)

Here in Bavaria(province of germany) we pay lower taxes (7 percent) on beer, in the rest of germany you pay (16 percent).

I also heard that in Bavaria/Bayern you use to have a beer during lunch. Is that true, or just "jealously" rummors from fellow germans?

So Germany made it thanks to a wonderful goal scored by Klose and two savings from Lehmann. This guy is really great at saving penalty shoot-outs. :thumb: Let the beer flow! ;)
