I think it is something very simple to guess this time: a book with music partitures or some other music magazine.
The trumpet lie on a music score I think.
But I still think the small version of the picture look more like a trashed washing machine or an iced pack of cigarette than a trumpet, even if the bigger picture shows it well. :D:D
The trumpet lies on a sheet of paper where notes are printed on (dont ask me what it is called in english we call it "Patitur").
About the new avatar, i am still looking for a new one, not a trumpet but a trombone. (actually I play the trombone not the trumpet (i played the trumpet some times ago...)) (hope I did not mistakes with the brakets (or could you forgive me if i did one (ore two)))... ;)
music score was the word i was looking for...Quote:

come on guys....its obviously that the image is taken in a desert. The trumpet lies on the desert sand. ;)

BTW: Where is Cimperiali ???
-Sonu
Come on Sonu. First palms, now desert sand. I think you really DO need a vacation or to go back to India once. Germany can be cold and rainy. You weren't flushed away in any flood were you?Quote:

There's no palm or desert anywhere if you would have a normal imagination.

Thanks Irona. This is very nice from you. I would prefer the right one, but i am waiting for my image. As soon as i have one, i will insert that !

My Elrond!
Fancy saying that I'm childish! Shame on ye'! But then, com'on, let's face it. It is kids who have the most creativity, and as humans grow older, they lose more and more of their creativity, cos' they learn more and more facts, and they will start thinking that this isn't possible, that isn'y practical, this isn't logical and so on. Thus, the things they can do is very limited in scope. Wouldn't it be great if we can think like an adult, while having the creativity of a kid? No no......such characters are God-send. Either you have them or you don't. Let's face it. :D
Also, Simon, it seems that you have become Simon PM, eh?
PM means Plexor Mode, which in turn == Simon Plexor Mode.
Please, no need to talk in his kinda tone, k?
The only difference between u two is that u're shrewer, cunnier, leaner, meaner, more dangerous and your English is better. Such kinda foes are the worst, man.
As for Ungi, I thought his avatar is some kinda prehistoric mosquito that is enbeded in fossil rocks. If you've seen pictures of fossils before, you'll find that his avatar looks exactly like that! :)
Isn't this Xeon's creativity in action?
Now, we all need creativity when doing li'l things. Especially with gurls. They get sick of you and run off with another man if you keep doing the same old actions again and again. :):D:p
Let's FACE IT.........for the final time!!!!!!!!!!!!
Concerning doing the same old actions again and again: you are rambling about gurls again. Maybe you need to do something new and creative: talk about loving boiz. This way, the gurls will admire you for doing something new AND you can run off with the other man you just mentioned. :DQuote:

Besides, this forum is very diverse qua nationality, but in order to be as diverse as possible and to increase political correctness, I think we also need diversity in sexuality. Xeon: this may be your chance. Become GayXeon, this will renew you, get more attraction from gurls (for some reason some of them like gays more as friends), and you could recruit your lovelife among the almost solely male codeguru programmer population. This offers a broad choice -1 (me). :D
GReat I understand now what was around, it was music paper!!! And it is still like a picture smaller than the avatar itself, which makes it like the size of a cigarette pack...Quote:

About the palm, in the small avatar :
you have the tronk raising from the middle of the bottom to the top right corner, where the palm leaves are going down, to the left.
Do you see it now??
For those of you who can speak french, do you know about THE UNGI??? Un nouveau guide internet. It's a web site very interesting. Well it was last time I went there. But it's been a while now.Quote:

Like it the silver coloured washing machine had an accident , something falling from the ceiling, very heavy, breaking it like a car would break (smash).
By the way, have nice holidays, the two who leaves... we will miss you (but when you are back, I'm on holidays!!)

Do you know there is 600 views by day, and about 4/5 pages of posts by day, and something like 15 votes by day?
In six weeks....
Let me open Windows calculator...
There is
- 42 days
- 168-210 pages
- 25200 views
- 630 votes
In conclusion, Sonu will have a lot of time to spend reading what he missed, and I hope you'll "count" how many hours it will take you. (or you can regroup them in block of 5 hours if you prefer)
JeffB - don't ask yourself what your country can do for you, ask yourself what you can do for your country... -or something like that.. JFK
I've heard Cindy Crawford was somewhere on a beach in Italy, maybe Cesare is trying to use his "Italian charm" on her..., trying to impress her with Judo and the long story of his humble name :D
JeffB
The number of pages depends how many posts you have per page. For the rest, it is certainly kind of impressive, even if it's much more quiet in week ends.Quote:

Wow!
This is a long thread.
I think this deserves the award for the most off-topic and most hi-jacked thread on codeguru :D
Of course, I was just posting this comment so that one more user gets counted in the total amount of contributors to this thread... ;)
Welcome into the most active thread and forum after the VC++ forum.Quote:

Anyway, ... oh my god! You're from Québec?!! Greet to meet Quebecers here! :) Since you are from Québec, I will have to warn you against these two:
Simon666 is a devil, a baloor or a Tanari, did not really identify it, he plans to destroy the planet, he'll keep cuba alive since Castro is a God for him
Xeon is a plaxmol using too much Viatagara
:D:D
JeffB - Have a nice week-end all and don't come here more than ten times !! :D
I am here around (more often in Vb forum), but you know: from time to time have some hard job to do, and cannot be here as often as I would like... Keep on posting: I am reading you all from behind your monitors :cool:Quote:

Getting Gurls' Attention for Dummies, 15th Edition
My God! Viatagara??????? U mean, Viagra??????? The ultimate and unchallenged drug that can turn you from a li'l boy into a roaring lion-man?????????!!!!!!! That berserker pill that can **** the **** and crap and juice and life outta any living ****????????!!!!!!!
That crazed medicine that can transform you into Hercules in bed????????
God! Now, first of all, I don't need to rely on this kinda pills. Either you have the skill or you don't. Well, such skills can be learnt and you can teach yourself in 24 days or even 12 hours straight, by refering to those online tutorials on the Net. Of course, if you're able to afford a monthly subscription fee, then you really gotta subscribe and they'll send these "tutorials" to your mail every week. :):D
Also, Proxima Centaur! I really gotta say your avatar is the cutest, sweetest, chubbiest, funniest and the most adorable here!!!!!!!!!!!
How exactly cute! I mean, even a real man like me think it's so darn cute, not to mention the gurls!
Notice that Irona didn't made a single post after you posted here, cos' she's so shy to even look at your avatar : it'll send love sparks down her spine and paralyse here with extreme electricity. How I envy you, Centuar!!!!!!!!!!! :D
And u see, Proxima, I've already published 3 books, and they include :
1) Getting Gurls' Attention for Dummies, 14th Edition
(note : unlike what AlexeyB says, the 15th edition isn't out yet. It'll only be out by around December 2002)
2) The Pocket Bed Guide for Girls and Women, 2002 edition, 13 reprint
(note : u might have a problem finding this, cos' it sold around 545 milion copies on the first day, and might be outta stock)
3) 67,000 tricks for handling, maintaining and playing with gurls and women(3rd edition)
(note : beware of pirated versions of this book. The real, original edition has a cute picture of a pony-tailed teenage **** at the corner of the cover page of the book, sucking a lollipop)
:D:):D
invested some time to get a new avatar (special thanks to Simon for the pages!!)
Another pack of cigaretts or does it look like a trombone?? ;)
hm....i am not sure, what it does look like...hmmmmm....ah....now i can see it ! Its a trumpet, right ?? hm.....this one was easy. ;-)

Hey Sonu, just one Reply to this thread and you have 100!!!
There are so many users in CG that never get 100 Posts and you did them in ONE thread!!!
...And now I can tell:
1) he is really a gentleman
2) he is really "TheGreat"
3) he looks like Steve Martin ;)
Have nice days, you all.
Cesare I.
Ps:
For those who joined Codeguru only lately and do not know him,
Lothar "TheGreat" was the top 1 in Codeguru - Vb forum
He was so great that after he left the board, it took over one year to Iouri to overcome him in Top 10...
He helped evreyone fast and well, and posted over 3000 answers in a couple of years, in a really free helping mode.
wow....didnt know that i already got 99 posts in this thread. Thats amazing ;)Quote:

I'm sure he will post here too, when he has finished reading the while thread, maybe in a week time?? anybody measured the time for reading the whole thread now??? ;)
Marina (not posting much here anymore because I have trouble with my code)
Umm Cimperiali pal........maybe u got it wrong? Lothar is great, but haven't you heard before, in all your programming life, a long long time ago when the first light shone on the hills of Codeguru, that there's a poster called AncientXeon in the Visual C++ Programming Forum, who made over 70002 posts in less than 57 weeks?(mind you, Visual C++ is tougher than Visual Basic)Quote:
From Cimperiali:

According to the legend of the past in Codeguru, this supreme helper and aid in Codeguru helped anyone and everyone who posted, regardless of who they're. Old folks have even said that he once helped a terrorist-turned programmer to code a word processing package. And in the annals of the high past, has it not been said that he is the ultimate lord of all Visual C++ programming?
Such was his unrivalled power in the past.
But then, aye~! Good things do not last long, and nothing can last forever. Some ******* here betrayed him and committed the act of treason upon him, and after a bloody fight with the traitor-turned programmers here, he scored an easy victory, but sadly, he was finally destroyed by his wife, whom he loved with all his heart and trusted with all his blood.
Let me say this, SimpleReally pal......Lothar the Great was nothing but a mere fly compared to this ancient coder of the far past.
Is it not true that it was also He who finished up with 89% of the code in all the major OSes today when their original creators were too tired to carry on?
Such was AncientXeon, the coder of all coders, the lord of all lords.
But the great do come back sometimes, probably.....in the distant past when we folks are already buried deep under the earth.
And Gabriel is back???? Aye~! Fret not, Marina! Even if he's back, that doesn't mean he's gonna be as active as he was in the past.
Slay me speedily, Marina, for with my rudeness and craziness, I have rid the forum of a great aid.(though again, he's nothing compared to AncientXeon......let's face the facts. :p)
I saw him also today, reading this thread. It would be nice if he could join us, cause its really funny here.Quote:

Yes, Xeon, I'm back. Just took some well deserved hollidays. I see that some people hurried to declare me dead-and-burried as soon as I didn't post for a week or so. Tough luck for them, I'm not :D
And I see from your posts that you still smoke something strong - you never wanted to tell us what that is :D

Well i am doing some coding with VC++ and some other languages, and writing reviews for several book publishers.
BTW: I am nice guy currently living in Germany. I think that is the importast power which a human can have.

That is a heck of a poll, honestly. The number of replies probably breaks all records. I always thought of the General Discussion boards as being rarely visited, but it doesn't seem to be so any more. That is good, I think, because people get to know wach other better this way.Quote:

A-propos books: do you know some online place in Germany that can deliver the C++ Standard at a decent price per invoice to Switzerland? The online bookstores here in Switzerland offer the Standard at horrendous prices (~120 CHF). You can order it directly from the Standards Comitee, for $18 or so, but I'm not very enthusiastic about internet shopping with credit card.Quote:
