I know this question might sound stupid. :D But I was curious, you said that if you let it stay for 4 months its called "Strum" and has about 50% alcohol. What if you let it say for 8 months... then that would be about $100% alcohol... do people still drink those?? Hehehe. I know its a silly question... :D :D :D
/My oh my... only 19 days left!!

No... It would starting to get bad... Since it's pure ferment apple juice it would get bad after 5 months. There would be too much alcohol in it and after drinking it you would get drunk by 0.33l and the diarrhea you would get from it, would nearly hit you down  ...
And an highly fermet must is called "Sturm" not "Strum"... (Sdrum(a) supposed to be an idiot in Upperaustria :D ) ... I think highly fermet wine is also called "Sturm". Which means storm. And yet is like a whirlwind in your digestion.

Oh... I see. Very informative. You surely know your Sturm!! :thumb:
(There, I finally got the spelling right! My eyes played a trick on me... urm looks like rum if you dont look closely. :D )
I would like to try that sweetmust and/or light-must someday. Hmm. I wonder if we have it here on island...

Are you legastenic or do you just need glasses? :)
Re: The "last one to post on this thread wins" Thread
well, austria and alcohol...
what nohero is referring to as "must" is very very similar to the more commonly known cider, while cider is usually not that sour and sometimes sweetened by adding sugar and water. there's a famous brand of cider called "strongbow" which you can get in most irish pubs (i got it here in traun in "ye olde sherry" and also in dubai in "the irish village"). strongbow is a very dangerous drink! it's even more drinkable than beer, which means that you can drink 3 liters and it still tastes great! but you're obviously very drunk then... in some pubs, you can get some raspberry juice into it which makes it even more tasty. and it's (in pubs) cheaper than beer.
i'm quite sure that you can get cider in the us or anywhere.
btw, i'm as nohero more a must-drinker than a beer-fan. with beer, i need to drink half a liter fist before it's becoming tasting good, but i couldn't drink half a liter of german beer, so i would never get drunk with german beer ;)
other than that, must is best from the first drop on!
these days is the time for the traditional "mostkost" (must trying) in upper austria. all the farmers give some of their must to a jury, which then judges the best must of all! after that, there are big events on farms where "the public" can have a look at the hall of fame of musts and taste the difference! as soon as you've found the best must for your taste, the way to being drunk is getting very short...
so far, i've been on 2 mostkost's, yesterday and the sunday before. unfortunately, i couldn't drink too much yesterday as i was there with my motorcycle (which worst of all broke down after the mostkost and i had to have it towed back home).
