Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
Since that the Germans are accustomed to lose a match in the dying minutes (remember the CL final between Man Utd. and Bayern Munchen). I guess I also have to take the French side, though I'm not very confortable with the thought that Scolari again leads a team in the semis. We have a saying in Romania, that the rabbit jumps from where you expect less, and I'm afraid Portugal may be the rabbit. ;)
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
I hope France can kill the rabbit no matter where they jump from:D...and then, break the Italian fortress and steal their girls:D...
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
looks like, France had managed to kill the rabbit...one shot is enough:D...
Scolari seemed to be frustrated of not been given 2 penalties...or maybe he frustrated to the players who didn't dive very well to convince the referee:D...well, I can't hear what he shouted of:D...after all, they're not Deco, the master of diving:D..
let see whther they can break the Italian fortress....and steal all the Italian girls:D...
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
Well, the Portuguese played what they know best: theater. There were a lot of simulations, especially from Ronaldo, who was razzed during the entire match. After the simulation that brought Rooney a red card, the bookmakers in England opened the bets for the date when Rooney will punch Ronaldo. ;) It looks like his days in England are over, which is a pitty, because he's a very good player, except for the moments when he simulates. Deco didn't play any football last night, and Portugal suffered because of that.
So now, between Itally and France, frankly, I have no idea who will win.
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
I will go with France... both teams have good defence.. italy has more of a defensive midfield which seperates the two teams.. strikers for both teams have had to work very hard.. but to me it looks like france will steal the thunder with last piece of Zidane magic...
But I have been proved wrong in my forecasts over and over again.. lets see if I have the last smile.. :)
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
Well I think Portugal played better than France.
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
I really don't like Ronaldo's play. Don't know why the commentators always praise him even far greater than the lengendary Figo. He always seems to dart in a straight line. He rather seems fixed in a straight line and loses the ball more often than overcome the defender.
But don't know his goal statistics at Man. Utd. Only saw him score twice while at Man. Utd, once with his head and the other a long range shot.
Surely he days in England are over :)

Me too, luck is a real bad thing, always overrides the hardwork. :(

IMO, it wasn't luck...France was looking for an early goal but Portugal too satisfied by their ball possession by passing the ball around without tried hard enugh for their 1st goal....France punished them for that....they shocked and started to launch more attack but France started to play more defensive(to save their energy for the Final I guess)...after all, Portugal's attack didn't trouble the Frenchmen except 2 or 3 good attempts....:D
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
A question came up tonight. Is the World Cup held every 4 or 6 years?
Consensus seemed to be 4, but I wasn't sure.
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
Yes, every 4 years, just like the Olympics. ;)

My sister has come here to spend her vacations with me - so, we are typically travelling on weekends.
However, I do make it a point to see important matches in public viewing areas (almost every town worth a name has one these days)... It is really a great time to be in Germany.
I am lucky. :)

With those public screens you dont want to go to stadium. :D
Re: FIFA World Cup Germany 2006
Hmmm. Everybody is talking about the big final.
IMO, the match on saturday would not be less exciting....
Both teams are in a shock, but should try hard to salvage the lost pride!!
I think Germany has a better chance. Also Klose can add to his total of 5 to get the Golder Boot. No one else is closer. Only O'Henry can compete, but he too has only 3 so far...
Anyway, I feel that Germans should be proud.. for organising such a wonderful event and also that their team got to semis. Their FIFA ranking is 19 and not many expected them to go so far before the tournament started.. :thumb: :thumb:
