This I know. I was lazy to come up with the extra bar. So I come up with the 3rd button to let me get away with it. The original color bmp I wanted to implement in my screensaver options was the 2nd button.

It doesn't necessarily have to be luminosity. You can set the square to any two variables (e.g. red/blue, cyan/magenta, brightness/whatever) and the bar defaults to the third related variable.

I know that. I was just describing how it looks like in the CColorDialog. But I do think with luminosity it is the handiest to pick a color.

Hey, it becomes technical here! What happens?
Sorry I don"t come often to raise the level of discussion (actually, lower it right now) but I've been tracked as the most picture viewer in the company. This means they actually track how many picture your computer has downloaded from internet (included all buttons, ads, arrows, smileys, well, everything except text).

so I'm reducing a lot ..
I'm not sure they would understand the real help of codeguru, since not many of them speak english here... or they pretend not to. But I already started to say it was help for the work!
Have a nice day, and Xeon, I can't see Flash animations, but if you could post a screenshot in .bmp, I could download it (a real voluntary download, this case).

How could you do something like that? Check the temporary directory and look at the filenames (bmp,jpg,...) that came in between certain dates or by something else (intercepting datastream from server and check which file extensions pass) or is the latter not possible or very hard? In the first case you could easily write something to delete bmp/jpg files regularly.

I don't understand what you say, Simon.
It's not files on my computer that are logged, it's files passing through the firewall.
I regularly delete all temporary files on my PC.

Please understand that I'm an engineer, not a programmer. I don't know how firewalls work and whether these standard keep track or write out info of what passed for admnistrators or such. :o

As far as I know, it is something like this:

A firewall is a program on the server that scans incoming files/data on virusses and stuff. So I guess you could also have firewalls that keep track of which filetypes and what size has passed to who and this information is then made available to the Admin.

Yes, or if they don't do it themself, you can have something like a guard dog (I even think they are called this way) to keep track of all this.

And what are the capabilities of those things? I have the impression there are systems on the market with which you can see what is on a user's screen. I don't think any of the codeguru regulars would want their supervisors to know what time they spend on codeguru. :eek: Luckily I'm at the university, I don't think they want to spend a euro too much on any software. You should see our SAP software. It's a nightmare.

Nah, only kidding! There's got to be some better method of figuring out who's "idling" on their computers than counting pictures. I mean, some sites just have one big picture that's really a mosaic of lots of other pictures! And besides, how can they judge if a picture is useful or takes away from something and whatnot? I guess there are lots of problems with the internet (security, copyrights, etc.) that are like this! Difficult to define and even harder to protect against.

So did you at least get a trophy??;)

Hummm. Are you sure that you don't mean a "watch dog"? Because that's something different. And as far as I know, firewalls work on a lower level than the file level, i.e. on TCP/IP packet level. They admit/reject packets that come thru various ports and decide which local application is allowed to use which port. At least the firewalls I know do this. There probably is some other service installed on your machines that keeps track on what you download from the net.

Anyway, I don't care much since I'm not doing anything they can reproach me to do. I did, when I played a bit on some sites. But not any more. I have work to do.

And this thread is even the last I participate in that is not really work oriented.
By the way, is there a way we can have Codegurus' threads not found by Search engine?? My cousin looked for my name and found me here, asking for trouble I get...

Yes, there is. We have them in our school too. I seriously wanna use an atomic bomb to blast the crap outta these annoying spyware. They're violating our rights, destroying our virginity, demolishing our innocence, abusing our bodies, crushing our freedom, banishing all our liberty and last but not least, killing our creativity and such.

These kinda software are those who can allow the teacher/boss to see at one glance from their own PC(divided into n-th windows according to number of PCs they spy on).
That's terrible.
