I have. And it's very good indeed. It's very popular inIreland too, though it's much more difficult to find in France.

The spiciest thing I've ever tried is probably a Thai soup, in a little Bangkok restaurant hidden from most tourists. THAT was really hot :eek:

But I don't think I'll miss any of them as I might miss french food, expecially cooked IN France where I can find the correct basic products. Try to cook a recipe based on Tomato in Ireland can be a very disappointing experience. The only thing the do better is potatoe :D

Just can't put my finger on it but there is irony here in buckets. Could it be that both the tomato and the potato are American in origin?? nahhhh.

I didn't know. At least about the tomatoes. But what the french do with it is a bt more varied and better than Tomato Ketchup ;)

tomaters suck eggs...I hate em...ketchup is good though...spuds are the best...fried spuds, boiled spuds, baked spuds, grilled spuds...I could go one...smothered in butter and sour cream..and pepper and now I'm hungry..and...fried spuds with ketchup..and mmm

ohh yea..you were being ironic in saying spuds came from the US right ;)

Tomatoes are only good about 2 months of the year when the local grown ones can be bought yes or grown. The other 10 months of tomatoes from Guatemala, Mexico, Chile, New Zealand, and California is bad tomato time.

The problem with growing them yourself is A) the squirrels seem to take 1 bite out of each tomato and/or B) you end up with more tomatoes than you know what to do with.

Ahh... The "I HAVE GOT TO MANY TOMATOES PROBLEM"

Who is capable smothering a cry of despair as they sit amongst their rotting Big Boys, Beefsteaks and Lemon Drops?

I resorted to putting them in a blender and freezing the result. I could then use it for the rest of the year to make tomato sauces.

I think this is what ketchup is for.

Here in California I can get vines to produce from June to October. Sometimes even longer
