I never undertood the rules.
Are the rules easy or is a complicated game?
Well baseball is the "thinking man's sport". It's fairly simple but strategy is complicated. Basically, there are nine-player teams. A pitcher throws the ball towards home plate, and the batter swings to try to hit it. There are a bunch of ways to get 'out', but if the batter is not out, then he reaches base. There are three bases plus home plate. To score a run, the player must get from home to first to second to third, and back to home. The team with the most runs wins. I tried to simplify it but probably made it harder to understand by leaving out key features... o well. ;)Quote:

Oh thanks Solarflare.
One more question. Has "softball" something to be with "baseball"?
Yes, softball is a sport very similar to baseball. It is usually played by women. It shares most of the same rules, but some of the numbers may be different (i.e. distance between bases, or number of innings in a game). The ball used is larger and heavier (about 10 cm in diameter, whereas a baseball is about 7 or so <<< just estimates).Quote:

Thanks again solarflare. You are really a sportman. :D ;)
All those rules seem very similar to cricket...
Cricket, softball and baseball are all the same.
Cricket are for college guys.
Baseball are for kids.(toddlers to high schoolers)
Softball are for women and girls, because due to their soft, sweet and tender nature, softball is adjusted to fit them.
And.....NOT AGAIN!!!! :eek::eek:
If you want to turn this thread into a ghost town, then try discussing sports here. :eek::eek::cool:
Are you triying to say we must discussing about women and girls to turn this thread the most populated one? :D :pQuote:

Just a question. It is about sport, but not that much...
Does anyone knows about the Special Olympics? They have started this week in Ireland, and I wonder if it is a known fact outside of Ireland or not. :confused:
Do you mean the special olympics existing or that they are in Ireland?
:( I did not heard/read nothing about them this week.
Umm yea...jump past the politics of course...didn't read the article before, but remembered the link...way to stay informed ;)Quote:
