That's because those girls are not programmers in the first place. :p ;)Quote:

OK, I found a recent photo - me looking spiky...
I really must browse this forum more often. I tend to stick to the programming forums (fora?) because of limited time, but "all work and no play make Jack a dull boy" as they say.
It's interesting to see the faces behind the names, so here are a few of me (apologies for the quality - all the photos I have seem to have been taken in low light, so they're a bit noisy).
The first two were taken a couple of years ago and show me indulging in my favourite hobby:
And another:
This was taken in the summer of 2005, on holiday in Arizona
Nice to see the face of the java guru behind the drawn avatar! :thumb: :wave:Quote:

Very nice photos dlorde, graham, and souldog. :thumb:
@graham: cool to see you play a guitar, and I really liked your photo in Arizona. :D
@souldog: That's a really big tree. It is a tree right? :D
Yah, that is a big spruce tree. Not really very big compared to the redwoods.
Wow.. awesome! I wonder if you've personally seen a sequoia tree? I've just made a quick search at google and found out that Redwoods are really tall ones, Sequoia trees are wider. :)Quote:

Yes, I have seen sequoias as well, in Yosemite. Don't have any pictures of those.
That's nice to know. I envy you then.. I hope I can go visit Yosemite sometime. :)Quote:

@Graham - finally the guru is there ... now it seems we just need to see Paul's pic... :)
@dlorde - nice pic.. i had imagined you to be a bit younger .. my prediction from this thread - Merry Christmas & Happy New Year ... :)

The shadows and soft lights render such incredible beauty!
Very true.. That's the moment of magic.. The landscape at that time is beyond imagination :thumb:Quote:

There are some trees which are easily 1000 years old.. I have seen one which is 1500 years old and still going strong !!Quote:

Graham, did you happen to hike down into the canyon. I spent one afternoon
at the grand canyon and have always wanted to go back and camp out for a few days at the bottom.
I had the fortune of being able to spend several weeks just driving around the coast of Northern california, camping out. If anyone ever gets over to California
I would say that the redwood forests are a must see.
 Nice of you to say so - and I'll let you into a little 'secret' - that avatar isn't really drawn, its a processed photo, like this one of yours (it works a lot better with a large photo which is reduced afterwards) :DQuote:
