CToolBar usage

Hey Thnx Kiran!!! That works perfect.

Coupla more qns plz.

1) How can I draw a vertical tool bar. Coz CToolBar does not seem to have a method like EnableDocking where I can specify "ALIGN_LEFT" sort of a thing. So how do I do that.

2) Is it possible to have a tool bar without buttons. What I want it a scale like appearance there. Or a button with no boundaries sorta thing. And I can change the bitmap of that button/somethingelse manually.

3) Is it possible to create a menu alligned at the bottom and left.

What I want to do with either (toolbar/menu) is have scales on it, which I thought could be a bitmap in case of toolbar which would be more convenient.

Check SetBarStyle. There is a CBRS_ALIGN option you can use.

Hm.. it sounds like a status bar than a toolbar now . You mean, you don't want it to be used a button at all ? No mouse click processing etc.

Not clear. Probably a graphic of what it looks like would help

Actually what I want it scales one horizonatal at the bottom and the other vertical on the left. Which does not contain buttons but has scales on it, like a graph, which has x-y axis containing the scales along those axis.

I started with menu. But I thought it is not possible to have a menu bar at the bottom or alligned on the left boundary of the window (like a quadrant of a plot).

So I switched to tool bar. Which works perfect the way told earlier. But now instead of buttons I want the scales there (if I am able to xplain that properly - like scales on an actual rular and like the ones on x-y axis). Is that doable.

Now you also mentioned, that this sounds like a status bar. Is it possible to have 2 status ar for same window - one alligned at the bottom and other on the left boundary of the window as I mentioned earlier? And is it possible to draw scales on it?

Its kinda complicated right?

And how do I capture click event of the button? I mean do we have something similar to:

No. There aren't any std buttons. But creating one is not a problem. You can easily do it in paint or any graphical editing s/w

Yes. First, you need to associate the toolbar button with an command ID. Then you need to add a ON_COMMAND handler to handle this ID. If you want to change the state of the button, for example like a toggle one, or to enable /disable you need to handle ON_UPDATE_COMMAND_UI.

Refer to MSDN, there should be plenty of examples. Or any beginner level MFC book will deal with these.
