How I love his! Reminds me of the times when I was living in South Africa (about 30 years ago). While I attended an English-speaking school, we also had a few lessons of Afrikaans per week. Since this language has its roots in 17th-century Dutch, is bears some similarities with the German language - actually, many expressions sound funny to German ears and often seem like a parody of German. For example, "gelukkige Verjaarsdag" sounds to us somewhat as if you said in English "luckyful yearswitchingsday" :D

However, one of the best thing about this birthday are some special guests I'm expecting tonight - but I won't disclose any details until later on... ;)
