I'm an O's fan BTW. Hasn't been much to cheer about (except for for the glory of Cal jr), but we have the BEST stadium. Every baseball fan should come to camden yards at least once. Don't forget to hit little italy for some chow then on to fells point for some night life ;)
Ok, a little love for the O's fans. My wife is from Baltimore and she gets me to root for them as well, but it's been hard to do that recently.

Agreed. Excellent stadium. I was there only once, unfortunately though, not to see a game, but at least I got to go on the field :). Camden Yards has this oldish-newish field. It's slightly historic (not as historic as, say, Yankee Stadium) but also up close and personal. It's new and modern but gives an old time feel with its bricks and old foul pole and the building in right field... very nice place to spend a Sunday afternoon. And, if I recall correctly, not far from H:eek::eek:ters!Quote:

I think that because this formu is about programing I would like to see a discusion on programing. What do you think makes a good program? What makes a good programer? How do you design your programs?
I am probably the only one here that is not a team sports fan. I like indivual sports (tennis, golf & racing). You only get paid for what you accomplish.
I'm not much of a team sports fan either. I like Boxing, Kickboxing, but I sometimes watch hockey.
I generally like sports where the beat the u know what out of each other.

Yep hooters is down in the inner harbour. It's about hmm maybe a mile or two to walk from the stadium to there. And how long it takes you depends on how many bars you hit on the way ;)
Do you think you aren't working as hard if you're helping the team instead of yourself? Sports like baseball, soccer, football, etc. still require a maximal physical exertion. The effort is still there. Team sports are generally more complex and there is more action, more strategy, etc. That's why they're better to watch. In terms of which type is better to play, it depends on your own personal interests.Quote:

By the way, even in team sports, athletes get paid for what they accomplish. What they do in one year determines how much they will be paid the following year. It's not like they're getting paid a ton of money because they sit around and do nothing. Some sports have a higher average salary because they attract more fans and merchandising (=more money), and these are the team sports for reasons stated above.
It's fine that you prefer individual sports, but your reasoning is hardly solid.
It's probably just me but I used to be a Redskins fan. It seemed like everytime they raised a players pay then the next year they were really bad, like they didn't care because they got their money. I am not talking about others enjoy, just that I lost intrest in team sports, afterall baseball is America's sport.
If I were a redskins fan I would have lost interest too ;). Go Cowboys!

For many, many years, ending about 5 years ago, every Philadelphia sports team sucked! But now, due of course to my persistent presence in the city, all the teams have improved. The 76ers (basketball) lost only to the heavily favored Lakers in the NBA finals, to a team whose star player, Kobe Bryant, grew up in Philadelphia; the Eagles (football) have been a Superbowl favorite, the Phillies (baseball) almost had a .500 season, but not quite, maybe next year; and the Flyers (hockey) have been to the Stanley cup. Talk about improvement! It's always fun to root for the home team.
Yea ;) I like all football teams actually, cause I just like the game!. But to think the Ravens are in first place with a 2-2 record. Now that stinks!

As long as we are on the topic of sports, does anyone realize the parallel in the baseball playoffs to 1997? In 1997, the heavily favored Yankees lost to the Cleveland Indians in the division series, who went on to win the pennant and lose the world series to a wildcard team. This year, the Anaheim Angels beat the heavily favored Yankees again in the division series, have won the pennant, and are going to lose the world series (hopefully) to the San Francisco Giants, the national league wildcard. Pretty sneaky there...
And isn't it odd that, if the Giants win the pennant, the world series will be two wildcard teams? Has that ever happened? No. This will be a first, unless by some miracle the Cardinals can come back from a 3 games to 1 deficit. It will be the North vs the South in California! And if history has tought us anything, specifically the American Civil War from 1861-1865 for you non-Americans, the north will win.

Apart from number one, you're not that far off Xeon. Maybe replace number one with playing football with dogs. :D I hate dogs. :mad: They bark when they shouldn't, defecate when and where they shouldn't (at least cats have the decency to bury it in the garden) and can be agressive to other people and animals. A dog killed my guinea pigs once because the idiot owning it didn't use a leash when he came visiting my parents. I never had guinea pigs since. :(

Alas my girlfriend is a cat person and hates the big dum, loveable animals.

It's no big secret why, actually. Because dogs from these breeds were too often held by people who either had no idea of what a dog is, or, worse, wanted to use the dog as a weapon.

That would be the ideal solution. It's not exactly feasable, that way, though...
The reputation that Rottweilers have of being bad drivers is un-earned. For example, I've never seen a Rottweiler talking on a cell phone while driving and I've never seen a Rottweiler driving more than 5 over in a school zone.
I rented a car recently and they gave me an SUV. I made some startling discoveries.
1) The turn signals on SUV's actually work!
2) You can start the engine of an SUV without having a cell phone to your ear!
3) An SUV can actually be driven at the speed limit!

Good old Bill is trying to do that Platinum Plus has been joking around about. Let's see... He almost has a Monoply over the OS/Software world. He's getting into the Gameing world. He tried(I'm not sure if he's still in it or not) to get into the satellite TV, He has a contract with Mattel, Internet TV, and a contract with NBC.
He's more powerfull than Governments. After all he probally created about 90% of the software that the National Defence uses. You don't think he could get in and send off a Nuke?

I'm not a guy that's guarded nukes but my brother has so maybe i'll ask him. But I don't think for the USA anyways you can just set off a nuke with a puter. I would imagine/hope there are mechinal things that require human intervention. Remember your talking 1950's technology which probably hasn't changed all that much.
