Today
Total page size = 86K
Load time = 16 Sec... (best time.. ~10 Sec)
Total Files = 10
Chache Hits = 1 (Up to 4 or 5 - Depending on area) <-- Proxy chache hits (Obviously the other 56 files must be loaded from the Browser Chache)
And just a note... these two logs are comparable because they are both to view the 'Feedback' Forum.. Both with my wife browsing her E-Pals Forum.. (note the skips in the req.ID).
This is fantastic.. and should realy ease the bandwidth load... and that means more space for more users.. Which is a very good thing all round..
Thanks to Brad and the Technical support guys for making such an improvement to the CG experiance... And with an additional server, this is even better :D
Gremmy...
PS. Everyone is very quick to complain when it all goes south... Very few reply with a positive update when it comes right.. So this is a BIG THANK YOU for fixing the problems we have with CG... :thumb:  :thumb:
Hopefully things continue to go smoothly. If not, feel free to be quick to complain. That keeps me on my toes ;)Quote:

Okay ADSL for 2 days now.. and this is the last comparison...(Unless i pickup strange things along the way :p )
Using the same Proxy server.. Same network.. only difference is now ADSL192 instead of 56K dialup..

2) You press "Preview" to see what your response will look like.
3) Internet Explorer shuts down and you lose everything.
or, if you try to be clever, it works like this....
1) You type a load of text in reply to someone's post.
2) You select the text and copy it all to the clipboard (just to be safe).
3) You press "Preview" to see what your response will look like.
4) Internet Explorer shuts down and you lose the text you copied onto the clipboard.

1) You type a load of text in reply to someone's post.
2) You select the text and copy it all to the clipboard (just to be safe).
3) You copy the text into a blank Word document and save it as a file.
4) You press "Preview" to see what your response will look like.
5) This time, it's absolutely guaranteed to work as expected, without any problem..
GRRRRR..!!!
It's a bit difficult to do when we can't reproduce the issue.
Whaaa??? I'm amazed. For me, this happens 3-6 times every week - always around this time of day (in fact, it's happened to me twice in the past hour).
Well I've tried with IE and I haven't been able to do it yet. Granted I don't normally use the preview feature, so I'm sure I haven't tried as many times as you have, but I've tried it a dozen times or so in the past half hr.
Does it seem to happen equally with both long and short messages? Because I've tried it both ways, and so far nothing
Yes - the length of the message is immaterial. However, it's never happened to me with just a plain old text message. It tends to happen when I have a Quote or a Code segment (one of those things that appears in its own little box).
Yes, the preview bug still exists, as JohnE has mentioned.
When hitting Preview, the new page is only the background.... or IE just hangs.
There does seem to be an improvement lately with the site, so I was a little surprised to again come across the preview bug yesterday.
Aaaarrrgh!! CodeGuru seems to be back to its old self today - extremely slow & unreliable. Has anything changed?
Just bringing this back to the top because the "preview bug" seems to be back with a vengeance (I'm currently experiencing it at least 4 times per day).Quote:

Also, the longer it takes me to write the post, the more likely it is to get zapped by the preview bug. The actual length of the post is immaterial - but staying in the 'Reply to Thread' page for a long time makes it MUCH more likely to happen.
Also, it never happens (to me) on 2 consecutive posts, if that's of any help.
I noticed that too...I changed away from the WYSIWYG mode to one lower...helped.Quote:

Actually, I do it the other way around, James. I create the post in CG (so that I can add the various tags etc). When I'm finished I copy & paste it to Word or Wordpad, then I tentatively hit the "preview" button. At this point, IE usually disappears off my screen - but at least I've got a backup copy in my word processor!! It often takes me 2 goes to post anything...! :(
Was this the issue where you lose the post? Doesn't the Last Post link we added on the editor take care of reposting your information when you click it?Quote:
