Re: Farewell to CodeGuru
I guess it's also worth pointing out that I wasn't getting a certain IBM ad that others where seeing until the problem with it was addressed. I was being served a static image version of the ad. To me this means that the ad was Flash 8 compatable only. So I'm guessing the ad had some additional requirement which Flash 7 couldn't accomplish.
There are other ads which also have a lot of frames in the sequence, yet they play smoothly without bogging down the browser. The techniques used to create it are apparently involved in how well it plays.

Re: Farewell to CodeGuru
Actually, I too haven't seen the IBM ads you guys are talking about. Maybe because of the version of my flash or maybe I'm just not paying enough attention to them :p :D

Re: Farewell to CodeGuru
I have seen the IBM ads just now....it eats up 50% of CPU usage on my PC...I can't imagine if it's on slower PC...
apparently, they used too much blur and glow filters (new features in Flash 8) to make the fogs effect....sadly, this filter is not meant for slow PC as it's limited by memory bandwith...MAcromedia stills working to improve this features...
