Well on an island you run into the problem of huriccanes and such....
Plus you can't just move a little bit further when you have annoying neighbors around you(assuming you're not the only one htere) :)
But that's not a bad idea, considering that you won't have to shovel snow ;)

My ideal place would probably be an island in the pacific....
As long as it's not traditionally the crossroads of several huricanes....
Besides, the sun, surf and other stuff will make me forget the garbage around the world....
