The best game is the one you like most, no ? ;) I enjoy Warcraft 3 at the moment and some online RPGs (The Fourth Coming and Ultima Online mainly even though they're really old).

I like cheat codes, but I ONLY use them when I have completed the game MANY TIMES. It's interesting to see the features of the game revealed by the cheat codes (sometimes it can help understand the logic of the programmation, sometimes it's so funny!! :)). For example, I remember, in Baldur's Gates, a cheat code to spawn any monsters. If you use it to spawn Sarevok, you'll see strange things happenning. It's also save my LIFE, there was a bug that I have faced in the game, without cheat code, I would have been stuck in a dungeon FOREVER because doors do not wanted to open (corrected in a further patch), thus losing my characters...Quote:

I dislike people that use cheat to overcome a challenge the game have, beat others in multiplayer or just to say they have done the game. There nothing interesting in winning all StarCraft campaigns without having done anything except entering the cheat to win.
As for the best game, I would also say WarCraft 3 for now :)

As for me, I'm really waiting for Master of Orion III. I mean, I've been playing Master of Orion II since... hum that must have been 1995 or 1996 and I still play it from time to time ;)
I'm also waiting to see what Star Wars Galaxies will be like. Just from reading the technical info it seems impressive.
Ok granted, I do that sometimes too :) Back in the old days I used to write my own savegame editors for games like XCom series and such. Or in MOO2 to edit planets, or races etc ;)Quote:

I was in Las vegas, the gambling city. But I was wise enough not to spend all my money. Actually you play and you loose, but often you win, so after all you keep on spedning the money you won. So the result is not so bad. But 9 hours jet lag is a lot... wow... Hopefully I don't work this week so I could sleep all I wanted every morning!
Taht's also why you don't see me often. As I have to switch on the computer to be connected and I have lots of other things to do... So I don't come over here too much.

Well, you just have to say that you will spend a certain amount of money on gambling and if you've run over that limit then stop. It's true that it might be hard to resist the temptation of trying to win your losses back, but once you are doing that you can ask yourself some serious questions.
And actually when I went there with a few friends, three out of five had a postive balance at the end of the four days. Granted, one of us had spent a lot of money on blackjack. That guy is a bit crazy anyways ;) I spent the 100$ that I won on new clothes :)

solarflare, I'm not from the US, so going to Vegas was part of a really far trip ;) I haven't been in Atlantic City, but I guess it's a bit the same except for the setting, no ?
There is 192 countries right now on that planet (thanks to one of the post in that thread ;) ), and at first, there was really few choice in the poll. The discussion have made Moderator to add options to the poll, so the most popular countries were added (or those we "thought" to be popular, Mexico is not yet popular... ;) ) Seem there was not a lot from Sweden. ;)Quote:

True. I'm not sure if your trip was for business or for leisure (sounds like leisure because you spent the duration gambling ;)), but the east coast is a more interesting place to be, in my opinion. Also a lot closer to you, saving half a day of travel time! But I guess the whole point to traveling is to go somewhere far away, not somewhere nearby...Quote:

The "Where are we from" poll would make more sense and be more inclusive if it were just locations, such as "middle east," "western europe," "southeast asia," etc. That way no one would feel left out... but I guess it's too late to start over ;).

Actyually, my point was that Others appears second whether it is considered or not in any Top X. It's just to say that there is too many votes in others, others should not appears in second in the poll!, there must be a country we miss!

That's not true. The point is to go to interesting places, whether they are close or far. I'm sure we could spend most of our life visiting Europe and always finding new interesting places and things to see.Quote:

I agree there's a lot of thing on the East coast, for I have seen a few of them, but I guess there's other places that are of some interest as well. And even if Las Vegas is not the only place for gambling, it's the most famous, so Yves M can say "I've been there!" ;) The problem with USA and Canada is that if you want to see a lot of things, you have to travel very long distances, and that takes a lot of time.

I'm agree...about going to interesting places. Look at Paris, for example, i know a lot of people in Paris, which have been living in this town for a long time...and they had never visit a lot of interresting things. They say: "oh i live there, i've got the time". That's curious.
Some people in the world dream to see some places. And others are living in thoses places and for them it's not interresting at all. Back to Paris. When i was young, i wanted to live in this town. Now, i know this town very well, and i go there about one time per month. I don't want to live there anymore. Come one day per month is suffisant.

As for Paris, I've been living near it when I was young. Then we moved to Toulouse. And after a very short time, I knew I would try never to live near Paris again. On the other hand, I still have some pleasure to go there for some visits because there are some very nice things to see, and I may have seen more of them since I am not living around than I did before. And there's a museum in Toulouse I've always wanted to see and I never got the time to see it. May be I will now find the time one of the next time I'll go there :p

No sweden is not in the poll, but if you look at the first pages of replies you will see that is was saved from massive destruction.
Someone here offered a program to limit the number of countries in the world according to their names : one letter in the alphabet, one country. And Sweden was saved! Whereas Luxembourg people could go swimming in the former-French riviera, for France had disappeared.

Some peeps had smoked in my room !!! I opened the wndow for the whole night, it was below zero i think . So i fell asleep only 3 am. And it was still freezing. The nicotine smell is gone though.

We have a very changing weather in Ireland for the moment. One sunny day, one rainy day, one sunny, one rainy day, ... So we can't complain too much. Even the week end had one sunny day.
The only thing that could be depressing is that the length of the day is reducing quite quickly. It's almost night now when I leave work, and it's getting worse.
I think the next time I'll see the sun on a work day will be in about 6 month. It's probably not as bad as what it can be in Sweden or Norway, though.

Yeah, Elrond, that reminds me of the four years I lived in London. When I got back from university in the evening it was already dark :/ But the good thing was that it never rained for long periods of time. After a nasty day could always come a nice sunny one :)

Lots of people don't even know moutain on summer. They just want go there on winter. Skiing in the morning. Eat something at midday in a "chalet-pizzeria", skiing in the afternoon, come back in their small 10m² hotel room..and like that every days till the end of the holidays. wow. For me that's awful.
And when i walk on summer in a forest in moutain, i dislike to cross those awful "ski corridors". But i'm not alone. If you like skiing, that's ok. I hope you do it with respect of the nature.

Well, that's pretty hard for an individual skiier. The thing that creates these ski-corridors is the fact that even though there is not enough snow, the operators open the slope for skiiers. And then if 10000 people go over the same slope in one day and there is only 10cm of snow between the skis and the grass... Well...
I've been o the mountains in the summer too, but honestly, I avoid places where there is a skiing resort.
Well, that has an easy explanation. Since London is on an island, its wheather is changing the whole time. While in Paris is can be raining for a whole day, this will almost never happen in London. But then again there is a fair chance that even on a nice sunny warm summer day it will be raining a little bit in London. But then again, when it's winter in London and you think all the days are grey, you get a really nice sunny day and you're amazed ;) I liked the weather in London much better than the one in Luxembourg for example.Quote:

It's not the duration of the rain as much as its intensity. In Dublin there's very few heavy rain. It usually is light rain for days, with a lot of breaks, but only for short times. In France the rain with be more rare but much heavier.Quote:

I don't know if I can agree with you there... I have a very good and thourough experience of rain in Dublin. I was there for three days and during two of them it rained very heavily. So there ! It rains two-thirds of the time heavily in Dublin !

Qualifying the rain might be one of the very few subjects for which English has more words than French. That's really something you have to deal with around here: if you stop doing thing because of the rain, you just stop doing anything most of the time. People even play golf under the rain here. Why should they cancel just because of a few drops? :D

Yes, people are not bothered about the rain ;) From May onwards, people will be sunbathing in Hyde Park (the big park in London) and if it rains, they put on their jacket for 10 minutes and return to sunbathing after it stops :p
