See - earrings! Even the most modest of women can't turn the temptation to wear these down... Not even in a womens-only party. ;) ;)

Bottomline... Women do it often for their social standing amongst other women. I dare say men would like women as much (or dislike them as much) irrespective of the number of layers of makeup or the amount of metal on them (well, of course the latter may also depend on where they are wearing it... :o :thumb: ).
