Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
Padme....a 16 yr old senator in StarWars II. How silly. Well too bad she didnt get written out of the script in the first movie, maybe a piece of shrapnal or something.
Jar Jar.....a Gungan senator. Not a bright bulb. Probably should have kicked the bucket in the Clone War. The Trade Federation army droids are not much smarter than the Dodo, so that probably explaines it.
Why Lucas? Why?....Maybe Master Yoda will know....possibly bms123 will know...or even Mick if he ever comes back from the Dark Side.
Is this some commentary on politics? Could politics actually get worse in the future? I didn't think it was possible, but 16 year old senators? I mean come on!

PS I got My Zamfir CD today. My favorite song is Corcirlia, sounds just like a bird. Not really sure which one though.

We kind of knew that... just like we knew that Anakin's mom wouldn't make it long. We also know that the free happy world/universe will end (for the time being) and all kinds of Jedi will be slaughtered. Not the feel good movie of the year here.
ahoodin, you're basing that on Earth's humanoids' maturation rate. I mean, a 16 year old girl on Naboo might have a much better head on her shoulders than our 'teen queens. And it's not like she didn't have counsel... right? Then again, it didn't take her long to fall for a hot guy in uniform... ;)

Well I don't think he was playing fair with all his Jedi Mind Tricks. You could tell that if it wasn't for his force, he would have never had a chance with her. She thought of him as a little brother anyways. Oh yeah By the way, I am the Hottest Geek out there. So, If you say She was fit to be a senator, I will go with that. Anybody with the wisdom to start that thread is a better judge of character than me.
Whatever you say. ;)

No, she was a little older actually... Oh well, perhaps she became a senator at 16, but in AOTC she's older than 16. She should be 24 or 26, something like that.

After watching the Star Wars episodes 4-6 for the 6th time I came to the conclusion that they, and specially the Return of the Jedi, are very childish. I mean come one, in a real world the few rebels would never destroy the empire. And a fallen Jedi like Darth Vader that is very strong in Ep 4 would not turn back so easily to the good side after just a few chit chats with his son. Episodes 1-3 (well, 1 and 2 so far) seem much more mature to me. That's why I like them more, specially episode 2.

The corect spelling is Ciocarlia, and is Romanian means Skylark. This is a very famous romanian song.

Rebels would never get space craft anyways.

Naaah the truth is there should have been more father son chats in the brig.:
"So how are we feeling today father?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing luke, you have been on the rack for the last 3 weeks, and after all that lightening hit your bad knee...I would have thought you would be more sore"
"No father, OB1Kenobi takes care of me now. He sneaks skin conditioner through the walls"
"Errrr! I hate him, I will have to take care of that annoying ghost! Come over to the dark side luke. In the meantime, I will move the rack up a notch for you, here"
"aaaargh father, stop that I told you I just dont really know how to be evil good"
"You are the diet coke of evil luke"

I must disagree. I consider that McGregor/Portman/Christensen cast is better than Hamil/Ford/Fisher(/Guinness). Well, Harrison Ford is a character indeed, one of my favorite actors but can't do all by himself.
What is better in the original series is the lack of massive visual effects. What I'm saying, SW (re)invented the visual effects, and the original series is full of them, but the prequel is focused on the visual effects, while the first episodes only used them as background support for the story. Does anything from what I'm saying make sense to you?

I have an album with Zamfir playing some of the most famous film soundtracks on the pan pipes. It's a great album. I specially like "Tara's Theme" from "Gone With The Wind".

Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
Macgregor....but he isn't the real OB1.
Portman.......I preferred Carrie Fisher
Christensen.Yeah, I buy that. He makes a good vader.
Well yes. I see what your talking about with the effects. They focused too tightly on the effects. The effects honestly are great, but effects get boring after 10 minutes. There has to be an underlying point. Those roger roger doggy droids just couldnt cut it. I see your point.
I actually liked the original effects better, because I thought the realism was more compelling. Consider broken teeth of the wierd looking Rancor to the earthlike look of the underwater monsters on naboo. Or the silly looking monsters the gungans rode to the sarlac pit.
For the new starwars: Where are all the bounty hunters? I dont see enough of them.

You totally missed the point. The POINT was that so few (There were more than Leia, Luke and Han...) rebels could beat the vast empire because the "good" side of the force was with them. As were perserverence and heart. The empire was also to vast. I mean, Rome fell and they had a fantastic road system, trained armies, an established political system and educated peoples. They were far more advanced than just about any other culture out there... then what happend? They imploded. $#!T happens... :D
I think Vader could turn that easily! It was his child, that reminded him of his only love and he was good once... :ehh:

Yes, eventually all empires are doomed to fall. But not when they have a single enemy, but when they are attacked from all sides. In SW the rebels are moving from one planet to the other as each base falls under empire's attacks. And it's like the empire is just a Death Star and a few Amiral ships. Come on... In AOTC Count Dooku says that 10000 planets rally to their cause, the future empire.
PS: I favored the empire. I don't like the republic... :D

Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
I like that scene where the millenium falcon is all :
"The back deflectors are down...one more direct hit and"...
they all turn around and stuff and go right at the empire like Sylvester Stallone blowing things up with a bow and arrow in all his foolish movies. UHF?

Ok, a little different subject, same topic...
Item is marked $10, it rings up for $3 (self checkout) Do you pay the $3 and leave or tell a manager that it's marked wrong and pay the correct price?
(This is a conflict between good and evil, isn't it?)

Well, I don't know what "ring up for $3 (self checkout)" means (I'm not used to english market talking... :D ), so can you explain it again... (maybe I'll learn something from this... ;) )?

To calculate the price of an item plus the taxes imposed on the purchase you take it to the casher/clerk who "rings up" the item. (Ring up meaning summing the total cost/amount due of your item) Some of our stores have electronic cashers, you scan the bar code yourself and the computer does the math and tells you how much you owe. You pay the computer and go.
Does that help?
-
Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
I had the feeling that must be it, but I had some reserves because of the Romanian system. Here all stores display the prices with the taxes included, or display two prices on the same tag: one without taxes (with bigger a font) and one with with taxes (with smaller a font). The second one is used in en-gross (resalers? - not sure the correct english term, the oposite of retailer) stores, rarely by retailers.
To answer your question: you can't fight the system on your own. You would have to pay and be more careful the next time... I guess...

Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
Just pay for $3. The shop owner also cheat you. He said $10 although it was $3 :D

@visualAd: I also believe there is good in each of us... evil is not a flaw. One can choose to be evil. But this thread is about the eternal conflict between good and evil in the Star Wars universe. (if i'm not mistaken). ;)

Re: the eternal conflict between good and evil
I just wonder....
Why are all fanatics of dark side so exciting about SW III and all those dark side mumbo-jumbo? They can see Anakin becoming bada** and turning into Blarth Vader with black bucket on his head. But almost 20 years ago I personally saw how he got his butt cut into pieces (more than two) with lightsaber. And no, that is not that he got killed and now is born again. Just timespace of SW univerne is strangely warped, and believe me, Vader WILL die 20 years ago, deathstar will go boom and good will prevail.

Darth Vader was not cut into pieces with the lightsaber (yes, his mechanical hand was cut off by Luke). He died because of the injuries caused to him by the Emperor. His body was carried by Luke to the moon of Endor and burn there...

Only one bunny, Max's, has fallen to the dark side. Not the others. Those that resisted must be defeated.
