I didn't say it was him, could be him or that I even watch his movies unless they are on TV.Quote:

Oh yes, and Happy Thanksgiving everybody! (If it's a holiday in your country - and if it's not, too bad, happy thanksgiving anyway!)
As long aas I know, thanksgiving is only celebrated in North America, so there's no holiday for anyone who's not from there. :(
Except if you live in a country that applies all the holidays of all the other existing countries...
A thread with over 1600 posts!!
If I start reading it now, I just might finish before the end of December - (Unless, of course, it grows by another 1600 between now and then).....:D ;)
It's worth reading ;)Quote:

Okay, now I'm interested... where across the world is Thanksgiving actually celebrated? I know that technically it may exist only in North America, but I'm certain that other people celebrate the "autumn harvest" with some sort of feast. I want to hear from people who actually live in the countries they're talking about (so if you're from Europe don't say "Thanksgiving isn't celebrated in India" even if it isn't).
From Elrond:
If there's such a country, then it's gonna be real darn great! There's over 200 holidays in the world, and if any country recognise and practice all these 200++ holidays, then it's citizens can rest for more than half a year!!!!!!!!! :):):D:D:DQuote:

(although the economy would collapse like anything) ;)
We haven't such holiday like Thanksgiving and I think it exists only in North America. But we have another holiday wich, I think, haven't in other countries. It is International Woman's Day ( March 8 ). It has word "International" in a title, but has place only on the territory of late USSR. :)Quote:

When I studied in Cadiz (Spain), we had holidays in February due to carnivals!!! :D :D (a week) :)
China also have this holiday. So it is really International.:DQuote:

The woman's day is probably international, but may not be a holiday every where. I think it exists in France, but I'm sure it's not a holiday.
During Autumn in France we have two bank holidays:
1 of November, day of the dead, a religious think.
11 of November, Armistice of the World War 1
Here in Ireland, there's one bank holiday that would be for Halloween.
The difference is that in Ireland the day off is not fully set by date. If it happens during a week end, then you'll have the next monday off, so you never miss a bank holiday.
In France, if a Bank holiday happens during a week end, it's lost to you, even though if there's too many bank holiday occuring during week end for a particular year, you may have one or two additional days off to take.
Same thing in Singapore!:DQuote:

In Spain, if the bank holiday happens on Sunday it is moved to another day :)Quote:

I have just remembered one joke :)
Man and his wife are talking:
-Why do U say that I am drunkard? I take alcoholic drinks only during holidays or when I go to the bath-house.
A little later.
- So, Wife, is it any holiday today?
- No.
- Well, I am going to the bath-house. :D
From Simon666:
1) My Great Beast......is there any official/technical term for these people? Are they called "Lucksters" or something??!Quote:
In Belgium: we call these people lucky bastards.
2) I notice you can use the word "bestard"(wrong spelling, but this is essential, cos' the CodeGuru forum software will filter out this word)
How is that so, my Great Beast? Pray Simon, do teach me the art of the trade. Thanks! :):):D:cool:
Hmmm... it looks like I'm one of the few around here on a four day weekend ;)
But I guess I'll have to wait till next month for a holiday celebrated around the world.
so majority on codeguru are from India or USA
! I beleive so...
I'm pretty sure >99.999% of CodeGuru members come from Greenland, with me being the only exception.

I was declared Santa. And Bulgaria on the north pole
I already read that L O N G time ago. But in order not to confuse people who read only this post, I do not make such cross links. Forgive me Mr. Santa. Hope there is still something for me left for Christmass? (slime, slime)Quote:

As there's a few American around here, I have a question. I heard in the news recently about a GW Bush doll that talks to give some patriotic sentences.
Do you have any idea where this doll idea comes from? Is it something that Bush himself started, or is it some toy comany that decided to do it?
I find it pretty scary if this comes from Bush himself. It would look like a personality cult
News story containing inventors name
The doll appears to be 32 cm long. Maybe you could use it as a stick to beat terrorists with. Or give it as a joke to someone. Osama could be as popular you know. Maybe that's just a perfect get rich quick scheme for me : get one of those Phillipine barbie making sweat shops to make me Osama dolls at 32 cents per piece, ships them with thousands to the Middle East and sell them for 10 $. I wonder if it would exist already? :D
I'm from the US and luckily I haven't seen the Bush doll.
"No one ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the American public" or something like that by H.L. Mencken.
Maybe someone will use it as a voo-doo doll.:D
I thought northpolish was like Baltic Sea or something.... Wait a sec, that's not even a word!~~!~!1!!!!Quote:

And about that Bush doll... it's meant to increase patriotism, but I'd rather perform slave labor in an evil underwater space colony than have one.
WHAT????? Up the heavens and shake the tea! Break the **** and kiss the frog! Kick my legs and press your thumb! Up the irons and up the mouse!
What is this???!!! A doll of George War Bush???!!!! Really?! Will we be able to change clothes for it and brush it's hair, like those Barbie(tm) dolls??! Whoa!
But seriously, I would wanna purchase a Lincoln doll than George War Bush's doll.
I mean, if I want a war-related doll, I might well as get action figures and soldier sets.:cool::cool::cool::cool:
Speaking of voodoo dolls I'd pretty much like one of Simon666. Where can I buy such?
A super moderator voodoo doll will also do... Then I WILL RULE THE WORLD. Muhahahahahahahahahahahhhaaaha;)
I see you are learning the good way :)Quote:

Note : some posts removed. The post actually contained a GOOD joke from over here. (Pay attention to points 2,4,5,10,11,12,13,15,18,19,20,23,24 )The picture is certainly not copyrighted as it has been made to be send by email to friends as a joke. I know this because I received this picture myself a couple of times in the past.

Images were not copyrighted, the disclaimer WAS necessary as it has been proven in the present and past some things can be misunderstood, even trivial sentences whenever religion is involved, as has been proven in Nigeria, even when religion was not the point of the post. Further more, if moderators delete something it is not necessarily a violation of the policy of this board as has been proven in the past, but sometimes a preemptive strike, and we all know the latter are open for discussion. As far as insulting prominent persons is concerned, this is usually limited. These people are often insulted and joked about at work, in cafes, bars, restaurants, ... shortly in the everyday aspects of life. The latter cannot be forbidden and I think it is foolish to ban every instance of it in another aspect of the daily life of a programmer, such as this board. An insult of these people is also often in no relation to the harm that is caused to shear masses of people due to the behaviour of these people, and in a democratic society criticism is not to be banned. Just a thought.
Simon you don't seize to amaze me :D
There is a big difference between criticism and insult.Quote:
