Well, my theory is this. Always leave something pending, so you make another visit ;)

I was planning on hoping to cover Agra/Delhi too when I visited Rajasthan. But that would've been impractical covering all those places, and rushing through would be ridiculous.

True. I made it a point to stop by the highway-side dhabas, a rarity in this side of the world ;)
BTW, nice photo , Krishnaa !!

Just a symbolic gesture of washing my feet. In Hinduism, wife is supposed to respect her husband and treat as equivalent to god.
Just one of the symbolic ceremony, doesnt mean much in modern society.

Pure beauty! Bad Gastein and its surroundings is IMO the best place if you're looking for beautiful landscape, long runs and good afterski :thumb:.
And nothing beats the feeling of maneuvering the snowboard down the hillside after having too many Jägertees at the Bellevue Alm ;)

It's the word use in Europe (at least) for a a snow-covered area or track which is suitable for skiing on.

Bad Hofgastein and Sportgastein looked more appealing to me. ;) But the whole area is indeed great. And the Alpen Therme were superb.

The whole area is appealing. Sportgastein was closed, but I remember having a long, freezing (16 degrees below and heavy winds), but still a nice trip from Schlossalm to Bad Hofgastein. Almost 10km downhill :)

A beautiful area, although I haven't been there since I left the defense industry....
Just watch out for errant missles [although they rarely leave the testing range, you can often spot their trails....] :D
-
Re: CG members photo album
I recognize that sand! I've vacationed (somewhere close?) twice.
-
Re: CG members photo album
nice , Siddhartha  Did you get a chance to visit Carlsbad Caverns ?

:D When I visited White Sands, I did infact miss a road and happened to end up driving into a defense area. Was scary as I hadn't carried passport along with me on that trip. Didn't have any troubles though :)

LOL, yes - I did hope that we find some stray missiles that would bring me back home to Germany. :D
My plans did not materialize, though.

Thanks. :) Yes, I did!
That was quite impressive too - in particular the big room that is as big as 14 football fields. It was a real good my-first-time feeling. :)

You were driving to White Sands from Alamogordo too. Coincidentally, even I missed the exit to the White Sands and continued in direction of the Missile Testing range.
Luckily, we figured this out before it was too late. :D

Yet you location shows California as your location. I know it is a different mind set there, but did not think you needed passports. :D

Visited Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse memorial, Jewel Cave Monument, Wind Cave Monument and Badlands National Park this last weekend. Wonderful places. Mt. Rushmore has been one of the places in my wishlist for a long time. This one taken in front of the four presidents' carvings.

Re: CG members photo album
Nice photo Kiran... How far are those Sculptures from you? Did you get any closer?
(I think they are really huge up-close, right?)
I spent my Easter Weekend vacationing in Switzerland (a place that I always wished to visit since the past 4 years of being 200 kms away from it!) - Lucerne to be precise. This is a very pretty and scenic town flanking the lake Vierwaldstättersee.
Here is a photo of the city -
http://forums.codeguru.com/
(Yes, I need a haircut!)
I also did make a trip to Mount Titlis 10000 ft high up in the skies...
http://sidatswitzerland.googlepages....is15-large.jpg
Yes, keeping the eyes open was real difficult as it was so bright up there thanks to all the snow-clad peaks reflecting an incredible amount of sunlight!
More (and probably better) photos here.

They are quite far from the place the photo was taken. Let's say 300-400 ft away horizontally. I beleive one can get close if you trek. That wasn't an option for me since it had snowed heavy.
Quote:

Yes. They are. However, there is a memorial to an American Indian called Crazy horse coming up which is gonna beat it when completed. Only the face of this is ready now and apparently, the face of Crazy Horse is as big as all the four presidents' faces put together.

Re: CG members photo album
hey guys.. have not been here lately, but just want to share this pics with you.
It's hanami ( flower viewing )time again, when Sakura ( Cherry Blossoms ) are in bloom.
As you know, sakura /hanami is a special event in Japan, people would really go out and enjoy eating/drinking under the cherry tree.
This year 3 of us went to Kyoto , not for viewing only but for hunting places were Sakura are its finest :D
